Modeling Fracture Propagation in a Dual-Porosity System: Pseudo-3D-Carter-Dual-Porosity Model

چکیده
Despite the significant advancements in geomodelling techniques over past few decades, it is still quite challenging to obtain accurate assessments of hydraulic fracture propagation. This work investigates effect fluid leak-off a dual-porosity system on propagation geometry, which, turn, affects hydrocarbon recovery from tight and unconventional reservoirs. Fracture within reservoirs was analyzed using Pseudo Three-Dimensional-Carter II model for single- (P3D-C) systems (P3D-C-DP). Previous studies have accounted single-porosity models; however, are limited. We present novel approach coupling along with fracture-height growth mechanism. Our findings provide important insights into complexities fracturing treatment design our new pragmatic modeling approach. The simulation results illustrate that contributes confined half-length (xf), 31% smaller P3D-C-DP as opposed (P3D-C). As height (hf), resulted 40% shorter compared model.

A Simplified Dual-Porosity Model for Two-Phase Flow
A model for two-phase, incompressible, immiscible fluid flow in a highly fractured porous medium is derived as a simplification of a much more detailed dual-porosity model. This simplified model has a nonlinear matrixfracture interaction, and it is more general than similar existing “transfer function” models. It is computationally less complex than the detailed model, and simulation results ar...
متن کاملDual - Porosity Reservoir Model with an Improved Coupling Term
A new dual-porosity model is developed for singlephase flow in fractured/porous media. As in the commonly-used approach, flow is assumed to take place through the fracture network, and between the fractures and matrix blocks. The matrix blocks are treated in a lumped-parameter manner, with a single average pressure used for each matrix block. However, instead of assuming that fracture/matrix fl...
متن کاملIntegrating Embedded Discrete Fracture and Dual-Porosity, Dual-Permeability Methods to Simulate Fluid Flow in Shale Oil Reservoirs
Abstract: The oil recovery factor from shale oil remains low, about 5 to 7% of the oil in place. How to increase oil recovery from shale oil reservoirs is attracting more and more attention. CO2 huff-and-puff was historically considered one of the best approaches to improve the oil rate. Most previous simulation studies have been based on dual porosity, but simulation results from dual-porosity...
متن کاملAccounting for uncertainty in dual porosity descriptions of fractured systems
Fractures have crucial impact on flow in reservoirs. In naturally fractured reservoirs (NFR) the fracture network alone can be the dominant factor in fluid transport. Fractures as geological discontinuities introduce a high level of complexity into the entire reservoir modeling workflow. In current practice, the geological modeling of fractures and flow simulation are considerably disconnected,...
متن کاملRadial Dispersion in a Double-porosity System with Fracture Skin
The problem of dispersion, advection and adsorption of a tracer in a double-porosity reservoir due to tracer injection in a well with a steady, radially divergent flow field was solved for the case of constant tracer concentration in the injection well. Longitudinal dispersion and advection was assumed to dominate transport in the fracture system and tracer diffusion and adsorption klas assumed...
